James “Jim” L. Moore, 76, of Mechanicsburg went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 7:45 a.m. in Springfield Regional Medical Center after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born at home on April 25, 1934 in Champaign County, the son of Acris and Hazel (Wallace) Moore, both whom preceded him in death. Jim was a 1952 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He worked for Kroger for 14 years and then began his true passion-farming.
He is survived by his son, James “Barry” (Lisa) Moore of Urbana; daughter, Ronda (Paul) Frantz of Ann Arbor, Michigan; sisters, Jeaniene Dixon of Urbana, Sharon (John) Riddle of Springfield; brother, Roger (Jo Ann) Moore of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren: Austin (Miranda), Aaron, Gunnar, and Sydney Moore and Jared and Colleen Frantz; two great-grandsons: Larkin and Oliver Moore, and many nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes friends to celebrate his life with them on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor David Hixon officiating. Following Jim’s wishes, his body will be cremated.
