Janet Elaine Osborne, 65, of Urbana passed peacefully away Friday, April 10, 2015 after a two and half year fight with pancreatic cancer. She spent her last few days surrounded by her loving family and close friends.
Jan was born on November 26, 1949 in Downers Grove, Illinois. She moved with her family to Urbana, Ohio in 1988. Upon moving to Urbana, Jan began working for Urbana University where she worked for nearly twenty years. Before leaving the University in 2009 she had earned a B.S. in Business Administration as well as a Masters of Business Administration proving to herself and others that you are never too old to go back to school. She enjoyed traveling and loved everything Disney. Despite having traveled to multiple countries, she was known to prefer a trip to Walt Disney World to just about anywhere else on Earth. Jan lived life to the fullest and loved to spend time with her friends and family, especially her “practically perfect” grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her husband Harry, her daughters Jamie (Mark) Lattimer and Jenny (Patrick) Barker, her son Michael (Jenna) Osborne, her grandchildren, her siblings; Christine, Tom and Glenn, her many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends.
She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Christopher Osborne, her parents Douglas and Eleanor Blair, and her brother Douglas “Butch” Blair, Jr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the funeral home with Rev. Scott J. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Office of Advancement at Urbana University in the name of the Christopher Lee Osborne Memorial Scholarship, 579 College Way, Urbana, Ohio 43078 or to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 3085 Woodman Drive
Suite 200, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
