Jay Dee Bogard, 78, of Mechanicsburg passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born February 27, 1940 in Mechanicsburg, the son of James T. and Ercel (Smith) Bogard and was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. Jay Dee was a member of Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Jay Dee was employed for many years as a tool and dye maker. He served as a grounds keeper for Indian Springs Golf Course and as sexton of Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, mushroom hunting and pheasant hunting, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Jay Dee is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann (Byerly) Bogard; his son, Michael (Traci) Bogard, his grandchildren, Amanda Bogard, step grandchildren, Derrick Harding and Nathan & Adrian (Jessica) Stewart, great grandchildren, Hannah Perdue, Alexys and Kyng Lucas, and Harmony, Zack and Tilly Stewart; his siblings, Jim (Teresa) Bogard and Janet (Rodger) Herron, sister-in-law, Pat Bogard, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Shirley (Jim) Wheaton, Joretta (Paul) Graham and Bill Bogard.

Services are pending at SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
