Jena A. “Girlie” Crawford, 20 of Urbana, Ohio was granted her angel wings on Friday, October 13 2017, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Jena had touched in some way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Jena was born October 7, 1997 in Springfield, Ohio. She was a 2017 graduate of Urbana High School and a member of Kingscreek United Methodist Church. She loved her family and friends, music, Disney Princesses, stuffed animals, the outdoors, and attending her sisters’ and brother’s sporting events with her daddy by her side. Daddy’s silly songs, Mommy’s snuggle buggles, and Papaw’s bedtime whistles always brought her smiles and comfort. She endured so much and even though all odds were against her, she was a true energizer bunny and kept on going. Her gentle smile and the twinkle in her eyes could melt the hearts of those around her and though she never spoke a word, her voice and thoughts could always be heard. She touched many hearts and taught us all what the power of love is and what it can do to unite family and friends. She had more love than anyone could ever need in a lifetime.

Jena’s loving family includes her parents, John and Lori (Filbrun) Crawford, her grandparents, Kenneth (Cindy) Filbrun and Judy Crawford; her siblings, Ally Crawford (fiance, John Evans), Kayla Crawford (fiance, Billy Lynn), and Kyle Crawford (girlfriend, Carly Lowry). She will be missed by nieces Brooklyn and Maleyia and her nephews Damion, Jeremiah, Zayne and Carter; aunts and uncles, Julie (Randy) Stewart, Melissa (Steve) Glock, Tanna Filbrun, Kathy Bachand and Dave (Mandy) Crawford and many other relatives and friends. Jena leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life including her private nurse, Angelique Borgerding, teacher Lori Ferryman, as well as all of the wonderful doctors and nurses at Nationwide Children’s (H8B rocks!) and Dayton Children’s. A special thanks to the family’s “Home Away From Home” Ronald McDonald House Charities and Pastor Dave for all the love and support through the years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, M. Barbara Filbrun and Willie Crawford, aunt Cheryl Filbrun and uncles, Phil Filbrun and Bill Bachand.

A gathering of family and friends to Celebrate Jena’s Life will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. A Service in Celebration of Jena’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Kingscreek United Methodist Church with Pastor David Brown officiating. Her final resting place will be in Grandview Cemetery, Urbana.

Jena’s family requests everyone attending to wear bright and cheery casual clothing to help them celebrate her life.

Rather than flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jena Crawford Memorial Fund, Security National Bank, 828 Scioto St., Urbana, Ohio 43078 or to any of the Security National Bank Branch offices. Donations will be used to assist the family with Jena’s arrangements with excess funds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Condolences may be made to the family at www.vernonfh.com.

Girlie, mommy now says you are officially ungrounded . . . no more pain. You are free to run, cloud-hop, skip, jump, walk, and sing your favorite songs with your angels.
