Jennie May (Boggess) Bowers, 87, of Urbana, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Mercy McAuley Center.
She was born September 7, 1924 in Tremont City, OH the daughter of Eugene and Florence Minnie (Malone) Boggess.
Jennie enjoyed crocheting, doing ceramics and canning. She was known to many as the “best pie maker in the country” and her specialty was her lemon meringue pie. Jennie loved reading the Bible, vacationing with her husband Cliff and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Loren (Bonnie) Bowers of Westville, Norman (Connie) Bowers of Mechanicsburg and Stephen (Tami) Bowers of Centerville; step-son, Don (Sue) Randall of Urbana; grandchildren, Michealle (Chad) Woodruff of Urbana, Michael (Cristi) Bowers of Mechanicsburg, Melinda (Billi) Ayars of Mechanicsburg, Jesse (Bo) Bowers of Columbus, John Wesley Bowers of Mechanicsburg, Emily (Josh) Schaner of Mechanicsburg, Joel Bowers, Matthew Bowers and Jacob Bowers all of Centerville; step-grandchildren, Gregg (Dana) Randall of Columbus; great grandchildren, Lauren & Grant Woodruff, Ashley & Olivia Bowers, Kyle & Erin Sarka, Taylor, Audrey & Darbey Ayars, Jonathon, Jacob & Jessica Bowers, Trenton, Joey & Lucas Schaner; step-great grandchildren, Allison & Emily Randall; sisters, Mary Nichol of Florida and Donna (Bob) Griener of Springfield; sister-in-laws, Helen Dibert of Urbana, Doris Bowers of Urbana and Helen Marie Bowers of Springfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jennie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford Bowers; brothers, Joseph, Kenneth, Emerson and Quninten Boggess; sisters, Eugenea Woodhouse and Ines Driscoll; and an infant sibling.

A combined gathering of family and friends will be held for Jennie and Clifford Bowers from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Combined funeral services will be held for Jennie and Clifford at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
