John Clinton Robison went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
John was born in Mannington, West Virginia on April 4, 1927. He was the son of Andrew J. and Chloe (Snodgrass) Robison. He married Mary Anne Sturm on January 14, 1948 and they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in January surrounded by their family and friends. John graduated from Mannington High School and attended West Virginia University. John served in the Marine Corp during World War II aboard the USS Europa and other duty stations. He was privileged to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Anne, daughter Lynnette (Richard) Bills and son John Timothy (Annette) Robison and sister, Peggy Beckett and sister-in-law, Patty Sturm. He was "Pap" to his eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild - John (Farley) Bills and Taylor & Colin; Jeffrey (Alissa) Bills and Evan, Erin & Ethan; Joshua (Lindsey) Bills and Ellie & Claire; Yvonne (Trent) Eckfeld and Colin & Brandon (Desiree) & Makenzie Eckfeld, Michelle Bauer (Matt) Merriman, and Kyliegh (Richard) Linek and Bradley & Ben Bauer and Cameron & Aubrey Merriman; Maria Peirano and Gabriella & Carabella; Andrew (Brandy) Robison and David, Jackson & Miles; Victoria (Jacob) Tayloe and Nathaniel and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Frances (Bill) Hibbs & Pauline Priddy and brother, Andrew (Jack) (Elizabeth) Robison, sister-in-laws, Beryl (Elwood) Calvert and Ruth (Gary) DeVaul and brother-in-law, John Sturm.
John and Mary Anne were long time Urbana residents before moving to Springfield Masonic Community in 2014. John was a devoted family man and he and Mary Anne opened their home to many family, friends and neighbors through the years.
John was a member of the First Christian Church of Urbana. He was a toolmaker and worked at the Urbana Tool & Die and then retired from the Dayton Reliable Tool Company. After retirement he worked part time for his good friend John Packer at the Carriage House in Urbana. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed restoring old furniture. John was a master gardener and loved to share the fruits of his labor with others. He was an active member of the Harmony #8 Blue Lodge for over 60 years and the Urbana Chapter, Urbana Council, Raper Commandery and a Shriner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, c/o Al Johnson, 4373 Bump Rd., Cable, Ohio 43009 or to First Christian Church of Urbana, 113 Orange St., Urbana, Ohio 43078.
Celebration of life services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Mike Stewart officiating. Opening the services will be Military Honors, followed by Masonic Services. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service from 3-4 PM. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
