John D. Cushman, 67, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 14, 2010 in his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 2, 1942 in Woodstock, Ohio, the son of Robert H. and Mary Gertrude (Wilson) Cushman.
John was a 1960 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He was Co-owner of Mechanicsburg Sand and Gravel. John loved to go fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne (Mike) French of Mechanicsburg; sons, Rex Allen (Missy) Cushman of Mechanicsburg, John Bradley (Jeri) of South Vienna; sisters, Jeanne (Wayne) Snyder of London, Gertrude Leach of London, Ruth (Charles) Wibright of Mechanicsburg, Lynne Davisson of Cable, Betsy Keys of Hilliard, Rita (Rick) Anderson of Mechanicsburg; brother James (Peggy) Cushman of Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren, Cory (Maranda) McDaniel, Casey McDaniel, Megan (Zach) Bostick, Kyle Woolever, Mack, Kerrigan and Lillian Cushman and Suzannah Cushman; 3 great granddaughters, Madalyn Collier, Calie McDaniel and Ava Bostick; a special companion, Hoby, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends to numerous mention.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark William Cushman.
Following John’s wishes his body will be cremated.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010 in the Woodstock Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Timothy West officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Woodstock Lions Club following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Woodstock Lions Club for the Woodstock Universalist Church Renovations.
