John Gorman, Jr., 86 of Urbana, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 in his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 27, 1929 in St. Paris, Ohio. John was a graduate of Christiansburg Jackson High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Koren Conflict. He retired from Hobart Sunshade after 25 years of service. His true passion was farming.
John enjoyed hunting, guns and going to flea markets and farm auctions.
He is survived by his dear friend and companion of 24 years, Carol McCormick, his daughter, Carol S. Allen, his grandchildren, Shauna Rinhart and Stephanie Cockerell, 7 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Freda Fay (Davis) Gorman, his wife, Opal CollettGorman, a granddaughter, Christina Yelton Riggs and his siblings, Kathryn Burnside, Kathleen Lantz, Virginia Mills, Dorthy Gorman, Donald Gorman and James D. Gorman
A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. onWednesday, March 16, 2016 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Mike Grable officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Honey creek Cemetery, St. Paris. Serving as pall bearers; Randy, Tom & Roger Mills, James Riley, Howard McCormick, Drew Kemp and David White.
