John Stuart Love Sr. of Mechanicsburg passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born June 4, 1930 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio on the Love farm on Wren Road. He was the son of Rollie and Monnie (Gibson) Love.
John was a bricklayer prior to retirement. He served his country in the United States Army and served in the Korean conflict with the military police. John was a member of the Bricklayers Local 22, American Legion Post 238, Eagles Aries 3974, and the VFW post. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and painting.
He is survived by daughters, Janet (Michael Riesterer) Cowan of Crystal Lake, Il, Thresa (Jim) Hickman and Tina (Mike Conley) Thompson both of West Liberty; sons, John Love Jr of London and Gary (Renee Brisson) Love of Marysville; grandchildren, Brandy (Brad) Powell, Dayla (Bert Cook) Thompson, Sarah Lute, Stephanie (Ryan Hughes) Blair, Christy (Nathan) Cook, Charles Steven (Tiffany) Blair, Johnathan Thompson and Mistie Moore; great grandchildren, Evan Cook, James and Kaylee Powell, Alexis Love, Taylor and Lucas Cook, Gavin Lute, Aden and Dixi Blair; brother, Roger (Rita) Love; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice; sisters, Ethel (Philip) Miller, Elizabeth Ann Love, Phyllis Joann Ray, and Mary Keefe; brothers, Ray Irwin Love, William Love, Robert Love, James Love, and Earl Love; granddaughter, Erica Gardner.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Linden Good officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #238.
