John J. Tomlin from North Lewisburg, will be laid to rest Saturday, June 23rd 2012 at 11 a.m. at a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg. John was born in North Lewisburg to John and Estella Tomlin on March 15th, 1924. He was a graduate of North Lewisburg High School and served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during W.W.II. He married Rita Hughes of Port Chester, New York and they resided in North Lewisburg where they raised their family. He was active in the community and served as Scoutmaster for Troop 87, coached Little League Baseball, was a volunteer fireman and was active with the American Legion. He retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance Company in 1986. He was a loving family man and friend to many. He is survived by: his children, John and wife Rose Tomlin of Olympia, Washington, Don Tomlin of Springfield, Ohio, Joe Tomlin of Fairborn and daughter Jeanette Vogel and husband Joe of Augusta, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles and Paul Tomlin: sisters Ellen and Phyllis, all of Ohio. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the North Lewisburg Community Room to enjoy fellowship, memories and food.
