John Lowell Tullis, 65, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in his home.
He was born October 5, 1947 in Urbana, OH, the son of James Lowell and Mary Catherine (McGuire) Tullis.
John was a 1965 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and served his country in the United States Army. He worked with his father for 40 years at Tullis Trucking before starting his own business, John’s Garage. John was a member of the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge #113 F. & A.M., the American Legion Post 238, where he served as Post Commander for 17 years, the American Motorcycle Association and was a previous member of the Village Council.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rebecca (Gibson) Tullis; daughter, Amelie Suzanne Gibson; son, Ethan Charles Davis; grandchildren, Evan Scott Davis and Graycen Jo Davis; sister, Ruth (Pat) Ritchie of Mechanicsburg; as well as niece, Nanette (Jack) Butcher of Urbana; nephew, John Ritchie of Mechanicsburg; great niece, Shelby Ritchie of Mechanicsburg; great nephews, Jack and Jared Butcher of Urbana; special friends, William ”Chomp” Hunter, Dave Salyers and Dave Merritt.
John is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Harold & Catherine Tullis and Nickolas & Ruth McGuire.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg where masonic services will be performed at 8 p.m. by the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F & A.M. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg where military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 238.
