God has spoken! Blessed be the name of the Lord. He gives and takes away. My heart will choose to say, Oh Blessed be His name!
Joseph Allan Eckstein, age 69 passed away January 8, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 16, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to Herman J. Eckstein and Mildred (Leaverton) Eckstein.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Irene Olivia; mother-in-law, Patricia Cooper; two brothers-in-law, Ron Valentine and Robert Cody; his favorite uncle, Joe Leaverton and best high school friend, Phillip Grieser.
Allan is survived by his wife, Vicki (Roberts) Eckstein; four daughters, Garilee Eckstein, Marna (Joe) McCrary, Tezra (Cain) Bailey and Favian Eckstein; and one son, Billy (Staci) Eckstein; his 12 grandchildren, Moriah (Will) Brown, Joshlyn Underwood, Tamara Crochran, Arden Lehman, Maia McCrary, Braeden Lehman, Joseph McCrary, RaShaye Crochran, Brendyn Eckstein, Kaitlyn McCrary, Marissa McCrary, Madisyn Tarbutton; his 6 great grandchildren, Zane, Xayvion, Malachi, Alayah, Mylee, and Aleena; his brothers and sisters, Mike (Diana) Eckstein, Mary (Dan) Freyhof, Theresa Cody, Chris (Dan) Miller, Kathy (Larry) Smith, Nancy Valentine, and Tony (Laura) Eckstein; his brother-in-law, Billy (Dana) Roberts; and his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Allan graduated from Graham High School in 1964. His first job was at NCR in Dayton, Ohio. He was a self-employed owner of Ecksteins Spouting for 35 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Urbana. His favorite songs were Nothing but the Blood of Jesus, Wonderful Grace of Jesus, And Can It Be, We’re Marching to Zion, Oh Happy Day, and This is my Fathers World. His favorite Bible verses were John 3:16-17 and Ephesians 2:8-10.
There will be no funeral or memorial service. He will be cremated as requested. Special donations can be made to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W Harding Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45504 or to Nationwide Childrens Hospital, PO Box 16810, Columbus, Ohio 43216.

Moriah: You have taught me there are no excuses and to always do what I know is right. Joshlyn: You have been the only man who has never left me, you have never failed me. Tamara: You allowed me to look to you as a father figure and I can never give you enough thanks for that. Maia: When you give a big bear hug, you make me feel like everything is okay. Arden: Now that I am older, I understand your advice. The guidance that you have given me has made me the strong person I am today. Braeden: You are the strongest and hardest working person that I know, I admire you for that. Joseph: You have always been a good role model and you give good advice. Ra-Shaye: You taught me to never give up and you are always there to talk about my problems. Brendyn: Im very close to you. Youre the last grandpa I got. I look up to you. Kaitlyn: You are caring, loving, and support us all. You are strong through Christ! Marissa: You are protective and because you love me too. When I was down you picked me up with your beautiful words. Maddie: You helped me with basketball, you never want to stop playing basketball with me. Reason 69 From All of Us: You have the wisdom, long experience and love of an understanding heart. Your loving Grandkids.
