Kenneth S. Rinehart of Urbana passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19th, 2017. He celebrated 100 years this past summer, surrounded by his family and close friends. He always cherished time with his siblings, wife of 76 years, five children, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and recently a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and extended family as well as his special canine friend Ollie.
Kenneth was the son of Guy and Grace Rinehart of Magnolia, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille A. Rinehart, brother DeFord and sister Virginia. He is survived by sister, Carol Rabun, children Daryl Rinehart, Dean Rinehart (Beth), Greg Rinehart (Sue), Keith Rinehart, and Carol Smith (Dave).
After graduating from the The Ohio State University with Bachelor and Masters degrees in agriculture, he enjoyed working as an advisor in the agricultural fiend for many years. He even met the love of his life Lucille Flater while working as an advisor at a dairy farm in Rootstown, OH. His work included positions as Agriculture Extension Agent in Champaign County, OH, at Nova Inc. in Tiffin, OH, and finally with the Junior Fair Board at The Ohio State Fair.
Outside of his career, he was very involved with the local 4-H club – serving as a counselor at Camp Clifton, and coordinating the livestock show at the Champaign County Fair. He was a Founding member of the Urbana Rotary Club, and active in the Methodist Church. After retirement, wood-working and restoring classic automobiles became hobbies. His favorite projects were a 1956 Cadillac and a 1965 Mustang, and his family will always cherish the stacked tables, cutting boards, and more of his wood projects.
Even in his later years at Vancrest Assisted Living, he was active calling Bingo and enjoyed many late nights with his buddies playing cards. There was no idle time for Kenneth, except on game day – “Go Bucks!”

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Messiah Lutheran Church, Urbana, Ohio with Rev. Scott Anderson and Rev. Cindy Comiso officiating. Burial will be held at the families’ convenience.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Association of Champaign County, P.O. Box 38125, Urbana, OH 43078.
