Lavonne graduated from Northeastern High School and attended Wittenberg University. She was employed with Sweet Mfg. Company from 1967 to 1997; retiring as Vice-President Human Resources.
Lavonne was a member of the American Business Woman’s Association where she received the “Woman Of the Year Award”. She volunteered for nearly 20 years, at the Mueller Center in Springfield, Ohio and for 10 years at the Monroe Memorial Hospital in Ocala, Florida. In 1972, Lavonne was one of the founding members of Vernon Murphy Baseball Association. She was a member and attended various Churches throughout Springfield, Ohio and Ocala, Florida.
Lavonne enjoyed flowers and plants, and gardening, She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her numerous church activities, watching HGTV and the Cooking Channel; she enjoyed ironing clothes, she always said that it “relaxed her.” She loved to travel.
Lavonne was very proud of her children; she loved all of her kids & their spouses, her grandkids and her great-grandkids.
She loved all people very much; young, old and everyone in between, she never met a stranger.
Lavonne is survived by her dear husband, James Redmon; her sons, Pat (Candi) McClintock, Darren (Terri) McClintock, her grandchildren, great grandchildren; her mother, Goldie Turner, her sisters Jan (Jerry) Neal, Lois (Gary) Scott, as well as many beloved family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Lavonne’s life will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Champaign Banquet Facility, 240 W. Twain Ave., Urbana, Ohio with Pastor Mark Weatherman officiating. Following the service, will be a celebration gathering from 2-4 p.m.
Burial of the cremated remains will be held at the convenience of the family in Somerford Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to the VERNON FUNERAL HOMES, Urbana.
