Charles L. “Red” Grauman, 86, of Cable, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Mercy St. John’s Center, Springfield. He was born November 25, 1923 in Marysville, Ohio, the son of Evan and Margaret (Cook) Grauman.
Charles enjoyed traveling, bowling, hunting, mushroom hunting, the Cincinnati Reds and family. After retiring from International Harvester, Charles continued his passion for mechanical repair. Many people may remember him as “Red” at Don’s Auto Parts or “Chaz” on the bowling team, but everyone will remember his smiling face and his big heart.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Robert P.) Sells of Urbana and Constance Carl of Enon; sons, Charles (Beth) Grauman of Urbana and James Grauman of Cable; grandchildren, Julie Pryer, Toni Lynn, Olivia and Abigail Grauman, Douglas Sells, Stacy Schwierking, George and Travis Carl; 10 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine (Instine); brothers, Richard, Lionel and Roland; sister, Rachel Graham.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
