I want to offer my deepest condolences to Skip’s family. Skip was my first boss at the Empire, and I learned so much from him. He was kind and very patient as he taught so many young people the ways of customer service and business, which is no easy task! At 16, I believe I was his youngest employee at the time. It’s been so long since I saw him last, and yet, the years have just melted away as I remember how quickly and efficiently he’d rush around the restaurant, refilling coffee and checking on customers. I’ll always remember his asking if coffee had been around. Regardless of the answer, he knew what was going on everywhere in the restaurant. He helped make working at the Empire one of my favorite jobs ever.
I’ll always remember him as a kind man who gave me that first opportunity to work. He was bright, always with a smile, and he had great integrity. He will be missed.

Skip's demeanor, kindness, and work ethic planted deep roots in my life and, I'm sure, into the lives of many others who got their first jobs at the Empire. This is evident from all the familiar names I see here of so many people I worked with, all of us just kids at the time.
I've often told people that cooking and washing dishes at the Empire was the best job I ever had. Skip made it so. I can still hear him passing by the dishwasher cart, coffee in hand, tossing off his usual greeting to me, "How's it going there, Lucky?"
Thank you, Skip! We shall all miss you.
