Lisa L. Newman, 51, of Springfield, passed away peacefully from a long but courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 16, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 26, 1964 in Urbana, Ohio, to Roger Gartin and Luellen (Snyder) Gartin.
Lisa was a 1983 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and was employed by Assurant in Springfield. She was an avid reader who loved to expand her knowledge. Lisa was an animal lover and rescuer. She was charitable and compassionate to others in need. Lisa had an amazing sense of humor and was a strong willed person. She spent all of her spare time with her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Gaver (Joshua) of Mechanicsburg; her son, Roderick Todd (Racheal) Gaver of Springfield; her grandchildren, Makayla Rae, Madison Rileah, Keegan Myles, Kloie Mae, Grayson Todd, and Remy Kiann; her parents; her sister, Stephanie Sue Gartin; her brother, Roger Bub (Stefanie) Gartin; her niece, Mallory (Josh) Adams; her nephew, Jude Gartin; her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends; and her beloved dog, Gibby.
Lisa is preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. The family will receive friends for 3 hours prior to the service from 3-6 PM.
