Lucille Miller, 78 of South Vienna, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 8, 2012 after a courageous fight with cancer. Lucille was born on May 21, in Pebbles Ohio, daughter of Daniel and Lula (Shoemaker) Crothers. Lucille was a 1951 graduate of Catawba High School. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she devoted her life to her family. She was a member of the National Chapel United Methodist Church and the Twentieth Century Literary Club of Catawba. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harlan Miller; her daughter Peggy (Ed) Panknin of Westerville, Hope (Bill) Palmer of South Vienna, Granddaughter Amanda Lazear of Springfield, and Great-Grandchildren Cole, Adam, and Wyatt Lazear, step grandchildren, Barbara Palmer, David (Lisa) Palmer, and Tom Panknin, step-great-grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, and Ryan Panknin, sister Eileen Hennis of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law Norma Taylor of Springfield, brother-in-law Phillip Miller (Sonja) of Boiling Springs, SC, and several nieces and nephews. Lucille worked the family farm with her husband, delivered newspapers for the Springfield News & Sun, worked at the Van Dyke Club in South Vienna, Producer’s Livestock in Springfield, and was a Poll worker for the Clark County Board of Elections. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Harlan Jr., and brothers-in-law John (Jack) Taylor, and Bill Hennis.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 pm on Monday, March 12, 2012 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday in the funeral home with visitation from 9-10 am with Rev. Cindee Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Springfield. Lunch will be served at The National Chapel United Methodist Church on SR 56. The family would like to express a special thank you to friend, Betty Shroyer, Comfort Keeper’s caregiver, Vicki Rosser, and all her nurses at the Springfield Regional Hospital, Springfield Cancer Center, Dr. Singh and Dr. Nedelman.
