Major Elwood “Bubby” Fyffe was born on August 23, 1961 in Paintsville, Kentucky. He passed away on October 16, 2017 at his home after a battle with a long illness. He had been a resident of Mechanicsburg, Ohio for 8 years after his move from Blaine, Kentucky where he had spent most of his life.

He was the son of the late Pilate Edward Fyffe and Mavis Louise (Cantrell) Fyffe, both of Blaine, Kentucky. His brother Terry Lee Fyffe precedes him in death. He is survived by one sister, Rita and Chris Heinze of Atlanta, Georgia; four brothers, Corbie and Rousse Fyffe, Darrell and Liz Fyffe, Mickey and Melissa Fyffe, all of Blaine, Kentucky and Charles and Amy Fyffe of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. He has many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Bubby loved to lend a helping hand. If he knew you, he would be right there doing whatever needed to be done. You could count on him being there for you. Bubby loved to fish. He fished at play lakes, creeks and rivers. He learned how to make fish like Long John’s Silvers and every chance he got, he went fishing. He also liked to take family and friends fishing as well. He loved to tell a good tale. At one point, he told Rita such a good tale, it got her an “A” in a college English class. If he could find someone to tell a good story to, he would. He loved an audience.

A private graveside service will be held on November 21, 2017 at the South Shores of the Ohio River. Bubby’s presence will be missed. As his family and friends look back at their memories of him, they will be able to smile because he touched our hearts.

Services are entrusted to SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
