Margaret Louise Smith, 95, of Woodstock, passed away, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in the Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
She was born June 23, 1914 in Mutual, Ohio the daughter of Joseph & Florence (Gardner) Dorsey.
Margaret was a 1932 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She married Robert L. Smith on January 10, 1935, who passed in 1986. She was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Lewisburg and a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was a devoted mother to her children; daughter, Elizabeth (Stan) Muirhead of Urbana; sons, Joe Smith of Springfield, Mike (Carol) Smith of Xenia, Steve (Shirley) Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dan Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, Richard “Dick” Smith of Springfield, David (Robin) Smith of Urbana and Tom Smith of Woodstock, OH; 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her brother-in-law, Ralph Baker and numerous nieces & nephews of several generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, John, daughter, Peggy, her brother, Francis Dorsey and her sister, Ruth Baker.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Lewisburg, Ohio with Father Clarence Heis and Father Larry Gearhart officiating. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery.
