Marion E. “Skip” Lippencott, 95 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Thursday, July 23, 2009 in his residence.
He was born November 17, 1913 in Mechanicsburg the son of the late Mabel Marie (Helmer) & Clifford E. Lippencott. Marion was a 1932 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He spent most of his life farming. Marion was a Pike Township Trustee in Madison County for 23 years and was President of the Madison County Clerks and Trustee for 1 year. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Marion also was a 50+ year member and Past Master of the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge # 113 F & A.M., also a member of the York Rite bodies; and Past Worthy Patron of the Caroline Chapter #39 Order of the Eastern Star.
He enjoyed fishing, Ohio State University Sports and fast pitch softball.
Marion is survived by his wife of 58 yrs, Ruth Ann (Pratt), his daughter, Janet (Larry) Boggs of Grove City, his son, Mark (Sue) Lippencott of Marysville, his grandchildren, Gregory (Julie) Boggs of Powell, Mitch Lippencott of Taiwa, Japan & Courtney Lippencott of Columbus, his great grandchildren, Drew and Mitchell Boggs, his sister, Alice (Frank) McCreary of Irwin, his sister-in-law, Martha Lippencott of Urbana and numerous nieces & nephews of several generations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ron & Eugene “Pat” (Nancy) Lippencott, his sister, Dorothy (John) Steward.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Community Mercy Hospice for the care given to Marion.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON funeral home Mechanicsburg; where Masonic Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
