Marshall Eugene Dixon, 87, of Woodstock, passed away August 22, 2016 in Heartland of Urbana.
He was born November 4, 1928 in North Lewisburg, the son of the late Charles C. and Eva L. (Spain) Dixon. Marshall proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was later a member of the American Legion. He retired after 33 years of service at Howard Bond Paper Mill. In his spare time, Marshall enjoyed camping, fishing, painting and taking care of animals.
Marshall is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Joan (Nance) Dixon; his daughters, Sharon (Steve) Nott of Woodstock, Karen (Bill) Nott of Cable, Michele Hollycross of Woodstock, and Marsha Miller of Woodstock; his son, Michael (Peggy) Dixon of Woodstock; his 12 grandchildren, Shane (Shari) Dixon, Brock (Emily) Dixon, Molly (Lary) McCoy, Harley Nott, Sarah Hoffer, Lizia Brown, Toby Nott (Amy Ober), Rachael Miller, Megan Levings, Bobby Joe (Erica) Picklesimon, Jeremy Picklesimon, and Tim (Cassie) Picklesimon; his many great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a special friend, Wayne Hollycross.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his great grandson, Avery Dixon; his sister, Helen Prather; and his brothers, John, Robert (Pim), Chuck, and Jim Dixon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in the FRESHWATER, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Kenny Cordell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodstock Cemetery.
