Marshall W. Green, 93 of Urbana, Ohio passed away Monday morning, April 28, 2014 in Sterling House of Urbana.
Born September 23, 1920 in Madison County, the son of Marshall and Cleo (Parks) Green.
Marshall was the oldest of seven siblings. He graduated from Wilmington and Cedarville Colleges. Also, Marshall attended The Ohio State University. He was a member of the Urbana United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 741, Urbana, life-time member. Previously, he was an active member of the Lions Club, Masons, and Shriners. He was a very proud World War II Veteran where he served in the 79th Infantry Division/European Theater.
Early in his adult life he was a teacher and Principal in Clark County. He moved to Urbana in 1950 and started the G & S Heating business, which stood for Green and Son. Marshall and Roger were in business for over 50 years.
He was avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed and mastered the game of golf while being a member of the Urbana Country Club for many years. Being a former teacher, he enjoyed teaching all his family members how to play golf. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his fish pond later in life. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 41 years, Gwelda (Mingus) Green and his second wife, Carol (Moore) Green; his grandson, Robert Marshall Green; three brothers, and one sister.
Survived by son, Roger (Rita) Green and daughter, Deborah (Ron) Lantz; grandchildren, Holly Cooper, Julie (Randy) Henson, Shelley (David) Eades, Heather (Andrew) Bonser, Brice Clark; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Clark Henson, Jerry and McKenzie Cooper, Logan and Morgan Eades, Emily and Jordan Bonser; sisters, Emogene (Vernon) Brockman, Donna (Jim) Wygal; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Urbana United Methodist Church at 238 N. Main Street, Urbana where the funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Jim Lillibridge officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
Marshall’s family would like to thank both Sterling House and Heartland Hospice for their loving care while he was a resident during the past two years.
