Martha May Fletcher, 81, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2009 in Miami Valley Hospital after a long struggle. She was born on February 25, 1928 in Middleburg, the daughter of Howard and Manetta (Crowder) Inskeep and the youngest of five children.
She was a charter member along with being one of the founders of the Mrs. Club and the Middleburg Garden Club. She was also a member of the women’s auxiliary Harold Kerr Post to the American Legion, Bellefontaine. Martha loved to write poetry, embroider, and crochet afghans for her family and friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Gene Fletcher; daughter, Jeanne (Chuck) Ferryman of Degraff; son, James E. (Connie) Fletcher of Kenton; sisters, Eileen Inskeep of Centerville and Laurabelle (Kenneth) Crabtree of West Liberty; brother, Gene Inskeep of West Liberty; grandchildren, Zachary Ferryman of Degraff, Staff Sgt. Rachel (Danny) Hayes of Goldsbora, NC, Adam Fletcher of Kenton, and Jamie Fletcher (fiancé Kyle Bohm) of Lima; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Jayden Ferryman of Degraff and Riley and Dylan Hayes of NC; several nieces and nephews; a loving church family along with many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Everett Sigler, mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Lela Fletcher; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Betty Inskeep; sister-in-law, Kate Inskeep; special cousin, Joanne Palmer; nephew, Paul Inskeep; and a niece Betsy Inskeep.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Middleburg Methodist Church with Pastor Todd Gates officiating. Family and friends may call 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Middleburg Cemetery.
