Martha Jean Hunt 93 of Mechanicsburg passed away, June 5, 2009 in Washington, IL.
She was born October 19, 1915 in Fayetteville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late E. P. and Brown R. Pitts.
Martha Jean married Edward A. Hunt on August 30, 1936 in Mechanicsburg. He passed away June 1, 2002.
Martha Jean graduated from Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, TN.
She was an active member of the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church, Mechanicsburg,
Martha Jean was a dedicated member and Past Noble Grand of Lotus Rebekah Lodge #501 International Order of Odd Fellows. In 1984 Martha Jean was awarded the Decoration of Chivalry, Odd Fellowship’s highest award for meritorious service.
She was an active member and Past President of the Women’s Tourist Club. Martha Jean was Past Regent and active member of the Urbana Chapter D.A.R.
Martha Jean is preceded in death by husband, her parents and her sister, Margaret P. Alexander.
Survivors include, her daughters, Nancy R (David) Bullard of Washington, IL, and Virginia W (Albert) Chappelear of Venice, FL; seven grandchildren, Mary M. (David) Hubbart of Metamora, IL, Joseph E. (Kristin) Bullard, James M. (Angela) Bullard of Washington, IL, Nancy Noel (Damian) Rodgers of Monclova, OH, Jean Juliet (Jason) Steffe of Marietta, GA, Albert S. (Tracy) Chappelear IV of Pickerington, OH and Virginia Vanessa Chappelear of Kingstown, VA, fifteen, great grandchildren, one great great grandson, a niece, Mary R. Culp of Mechanicsburg, OH, nephews, John M. Roseberry of Galion, OH, Tom Alexander of Waynesville, N.C. & Edward Alexander of Indianapolis, IN, and a brother-in-law, Richard T. Alexander of Canton, NC.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Graveside services will follow at 3:15 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
