M. DeWitte Fox, 78 of Urbana, passed away, Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born December 3, 1931 in Urbana Township, the son of Harold and Alice Fox.
DeWitte “Foxie” proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a 30 year employee of Miller Excavating and retired from Honda of America after 15 years of service. After retiring, he spent many years working at Northwood Hills Country club. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Friends Church. DeWitte was always most comfortable around people, especially his family who he loved more than life itself. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his unforgettable wit and his love for life. He will always live on in the hearts and minds of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The love of his life was his wife Miriam of 60 years. Their most enjoyable times in life were being together and watching their grandsons play ball.
DeWitte is survived by wife of 60 years, Miriam Fox of Urbana; son, Doug (Mollie) Fox; daughter, Tami (Todd) Winnenberg; grandchildren, Matthew (Morgan) Fox, Thomas (Nina) Fox and Jonathan Fox; step-grandchildren, Jordin, Sydney and Max Winnenberg; great-granddaughter, Addie Fox; several nieces and nephews; as well as special buddies, Ernie and Gracie.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John R. Fox.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home with Rev. Brian Wonn and Rev. Michael Will officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery Cable, Ohio. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Fox, Thomas Fox, Jonathan Fox, Todd Winnenberg, James Kitchen and John R. Fox, Jr.
