Mary Jewell Byerly
Jewell Byerly, 91, of Winter Garden, FL passed away, Thursday, December 3, 2009 in her residence.
She was born February 1, 1918 in Charley, KY the daughter of Alphonso & Ruby (Jordan) Moore. She moved to Mechanicsburg, Ohio with the parents as a young child and completed her education at Mechanicsburg High School.
Jewell retired from Grimes Manufacturing as an Inspector. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Mechanicsburg and in Ocoee, FL; where she has spent the past ten years.
Jewell is survived by her daughters, Betty (Randy) Gilliam of Reynoldsburg, OH and Lorraine (Rev. George) Poullas of Spring Hill, FL, her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Mariebella) Gilliam, Maria A. (Chris) Blanchard, Athan (Chrys) Poullas, Elizabeth (Lambros) Alexopoulos and Michael Poullas, 13 great grandchildren, her brother, Robert (Rose) Moore of Dayton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Byerly and her brothers, Walter & Adrian Moore, who was missing in action during WWII.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Ates officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
