Mary K. Evans, 98 of Rosewood, passed away, Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Hearth and Home of Urbana.
She was born December 9, 1917 in Monroe Township, Logan County and was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School. She then attended beauty school in Lima and worked hard to obtain her managers license. In 1946 she married, Leonard Evans and she became a farmers wife and mother of 2. She loved sewing, baking, cooking, canning and gardening. Her talents with cross stitch and embroidery won her many awards at the county fair and later, she enjoyed helping her granddaughters with their projects. Mary was so passionate and gifted that up to 6 months ago, she was still sewing. She made aprons for the some of the aides at Hearth and Home. She was also well known for her award winning pineapple pie. Mary was resourceful; she would can and freeze the vegetables from her garden each year.
She is survived by her children, Toby Middleton & Homer (Joyce) Evans, her grandchildren, Melissa Sizemore, Heather Toops, Olivia (Bob) Newland, Amanda Downey and Clint Evans; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther (Jones) Leib; her husband, her son-in-law, Marion Middleton and her brother, John (Ruth) Leib.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 with Pastor Paul Jones officiating in Union Township Cemetery, Milford Center, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Cancer Assoc. P. O. Box 38125 Urbana, Ohio 43078.

I have such fond memories of 4-H meetings held at the Evans’ home. My brother and I were members of Mr. Evans’s club for several years. We will continue to carry fond memories in our hearts. Mrs. Evans was a gem!
