Mary Frances (Yoder) Sowers 96 of Urbana formerly of Cable, Ohio passed away, Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in Mercy McAuley Center Urbana surrounded by her family.
She was born August 24, 1911 in Degraff, the daughter of Sam and Daisy (Cook) Yoder.
Mary graduated from Quincy High School in 1930. She married the late Wilbur W. Sowers on July 9, 1933. She attended Chapel Hill Church of God, Urbana where she played the piano and organ. Music was Mary’s life and she took great pleasure in playing the piano. Mary even played up to two weeks ago.
She is survived by her sons, William (Kathleen) Sowers of Urbana, Sam (Janie) Sowers of Cable; grandchildren, Mary Beth (Clyde) Miller of Urbana, Kevin Sowers of Durham, North Carolina, Kent Sowers of Cable, Karla (Kevin) Leiter of Cable, Toby (Kay) Craig of Enon and Jeff (Pam) Craig of Urbana; great grandchildren, Megan and Mallory Leiter, Bradley Sowers, Wayne and Billy Moore and Matthew and Clayton Craig, her great great grandsons, William and Sheldon Moore.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joyce Jean Sowers; granddaughter, Sharon Ann Moore and her brother, William Yoder.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME Urbana, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 in the Cable United Methodist Church with Pastor Joyce McKeever officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Quincy, Ohio. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Mercy McAuley Center for the loving care that was given to their mother.
