Maxine Maurice 94, of Urbana Ohio passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2015 in Vancrest of Urbana. She was born July 29, 1920, in Akron Ohio, the daughter of Arthur H Howe and Effie M (McCain) Howe.
Maxine was a member of the Urbana United Methodist Church and active in the Urbana United Methodist Women’s Fellowship Circle. She was involved in Girl Scouting during the 1950s and 1960s as a troop leader and Girl Scout Council President. She owned and operated The Village Store in North Lewisburg for 10 years. She was a member of the Friends of the Library at the Champaign County Library and participated in their book sales.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Jon)Saari of Yellow Springs Ohio; her son, Allen R ( Susan) Maurice of Urbana; her grandchildren, Melissa Rapp (Jerry) of Hebron Kentucky, the Rev. Aaron Saari ( Miriam) of Yellow Springs, Ohio; Kelly A (David) Druckenbroad of Powell Ohio and Kori L ( Darren) Hurley of Delaware Ohio; her great grandchildren Caroline Schmidt, Jackson and Addie Druckenbroad and Drew and Nathan Hurley; her brother-in-law Ray C Maurice and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ivan J Maurice of 65 and a half years; a grandson, Stephen Allison; a sister, Edith Bennett; and brothers, Herbert, Harry, Robert and William Howe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the Urbana United Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Saari, Pastor of the Yellow Springs First Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana. Serving as pallbearers will be: Bruce Howe, Jerry Rapp, David Druckenbroad, Darren Hurley and Allen Maurice.
The family gives their sincere thanks to the Staff at Vancrest and Vitas Hospice for the professional and genuine loving care that they gave to our mother- grandmother – great-grandmother Maxine.
