Maybelle Wiant, 91 of Mechanicsburg, made her final flight to be with the angels on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
She was born March 13, 1921 in Mechanicsburg and was a 1939 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She retired from Grimes Manufacturing. Maybelle was a member of Caroline Chapter #39, Order of the Eastern Star and the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Maybelle did some traveling with her good friend Mary Adelia Lewis. Those that knew her know how much she loved flying planes.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen Jeffries of Columbus and Paula (Dave) Holmes of Xenia; her grandchildren, Amy (James) Guido, Heidi (Steve) Matson and Gretchen (Chris) Everett, her great-grandchildren, Ryan Anderson and Natalie Guido, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Foster and Mary Blanche (Dunham) Griffin; her sisters, Von Cella Davisson, Esther Medici and Vernon Miller; her brothers, Pearl, Paschal and Robert Griffin and a granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Stanley.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg; where Order of the Eastern Star services will conclude visitation. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 11, 2013 in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
