Melvin L. “Peanut” McGill, 44 lifelong resident of Urbana passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 19, 2009 in his residence.
He was born August 22, 1965 in Urbana.
Peanut was a 1984 graduate of Urbana High School. He attended the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a master mechanic at Jeff Schmidtt’s in Fairborn for several years. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his daughter, listening to Elvis Presley, Hot Rod Cars, going to a dinner and a movie, and Karaoke.
He is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie McGill; his sister, Carrie (Charles) Mack and their children, Donna Wilkie and her children, Ross, Mitchell & Ammie Faye, Ashley Lucas, Charles Mack Jr., Michelle Mack & Michael Mack; his brother, David E. (Robin) Moody III and his children, Gaynell Hillard, Brandi Byrd, Martha Moody and their children, Austin & Levy Hillard, Kendra & Kaiden Baccus, Kaitlyn & James Jr. Nichols; his Aunts and Uncles, Melvin and Gracie Holycross (whom raised him) & their children, Chrissie, Curt & Cathy and Roger and Millie Frazier & their son, Matt; a special friend, Angela Zirkle; as well as a host of friends.
Peanut is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard L. McGill and Martha (Frazier) and Joe Fraley, and a special grandmother, Faye Cochran.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11-2 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009 in the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union; where the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastor Charles Runion officiating.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg. Serving as pall bearers, Scott Adams, Matt Frazier, Curt Holycross, Charlie Mack, Mike Mack & Eric Zirkle, honorary pall bearers, Mike Adams, Nathan Hillard, Adam Zirkle and Dave Carty. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Condolences may be expressed to www.vernonfh.com.
