Meredith P. ”Russ” Russell 69 of Cable, passed away, Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana, Ohio.
Russ was born November 6, 1942 in Urbana, Ohio. He was in the 1st graduating class of the new high school building in 1961 of Triad High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1966. After 30 years, he retired from International Harvester – Navistar. Russ also worked at CT Farm and Country and the Tractor Supply Company in Springfield. He attended Mt. Carmel Friends Church and was a member of the Ohio Allis Chalmers Club. Russ enjoyed farming, antique tractors, woodworking, camping, modeling and motorcycles. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Evelina (Gilliam) Russell, his children, Paul (Pam) Russell of Lakeview, John (Gina) Russell of North Lewisburg, Pam Field and Brian Moder of Zanesfield, Jimmy (Stacy) Russell of Cable, his step-children, George J. Shirk Jr. of Silverton, Oregon, Julie M. Shirk and Pam Harter of Urbana & Juanita L. Shirk of Springfield; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; his brother, Wayne (Judy) Russell of Urbana; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Ethel Fay (Hall) Russell, his 1st wife, Mary Katheryn (Craig) Russell, his grandson, Matthew D. Field and his brother, Martin L. Russell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the FREWSHWATER, MCDONALD, & VERNON Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Instine officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
