Merlin Hall Hoewischer, 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Masonic Home in Springfield, OH.
He was born on December 20, 1924 in Kettlersville, OH the son of George Walter and Ruth (Hall) Hoewischer.
Merlin was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Springfield, OH. He loved his horses, dogs, and all the other animals on the farm.
He is survived by his wife whom he cherished for 58 years, Norma Jean; sons, Jay (Wendy) Hoewischer and Mark (Sara) Hoewischer both of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Shelly (Gene) Starkey and Jaimes (Maria) Hoewischer both of Mechanicsburg, Christy (Aaron) Eckstein of Galloway, OH, and Randi (Randy) Dibert of Urbana; great grandchildren, Ethan, Kadey, Heath, Gus, Max, Kenze, Sam, Addy, and Avery; sister, Phyllis (Melvin) Bodey of St. Paris; a niece and numerous nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lavera Heaston.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, OH. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 with Pastor Carol Gesalman officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery, Donnelsville, OH.
