Grandma Virginia Black Crowder, 99 of Mingo, died peacefully January 24, 2019 at the Memorial Gables in Marysville. She was born July 7, 1919 in Cable, the daughter of Clarence and Danah (Thompson) Black. Grandma grew up on the top of Cable hill and graduated from Cable High School in 1937. She was a life-long farmer, a passion she shared with her husband of 63 years, Mearl Crowder. She and Mearl were married April 28, 1944.
Grandma will always be regarded as an amazing woman for whom we have the utmost respect. She led a full and vibrant life. She lived in a way that impacted this world in such a positive way. The legacy she imprinted will provide as a never-ending gift of love, strength and example of character that will benefit this world for generations to come.
Grandmas is preceded in death by Grandpa, her ornery brother Bob Black and his wife Francie. Also receiving her in heaven is her loving daughter Cheryl Jean Evans Ground
Grandma is survived by Timmer and Cassie Ground, Melinda Evans, her sons Bob (Sherri Westfall) and Mark (Susan Lincoln). Her Grandchildren: John Crowder (Shannon Deam), Emily Crowder (Jim Compton), Ashley McIntosh (Matt), Tim Evans, Terry Evans (Angie), Cheryl Evans Pastorini (Jeff). Her Great-Grandchildren: Kara Evans Kieran (Skyler), Kailee, Jack, Emma Grace, Ava and Audrey Evans; Kipton, Kolbie, John Avery, Chase and Ava Grace Crowder; Kase, Kynslie, Kadon and Kole McIntosh; Preston and Jacob Pastorini. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Rory and Brigit Kieran.
Grandma's family will have a private celebration for both she and Grandpa on a beautiful warm summer day. We wish to thank Dr. Henzel and his staff and the wonderful staff at the Gables for taking such good care of Grandma. Special thanks to neighbors and friends at the Urbana YMCA. Also, anyone EVER involved in any and all athletics of any kind, male or female, in the Triad School District. Go Cardinals!
Virginia donated her body to the Ohio State University Division of Anatomy.
