Naomi Ruth Jackson, 86, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born December 14, 1926 in Plain City, Ohio, the daughter of William E. and Glendora (Dolby) Saunders.
Naomi was a 1945 graduate of Plain City High School. On November 11, 1953, Naomi married Martin L. Jackson. She worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Grimes Manufacturing, Drackett, Kirby’s Farm Store, and was an elevator operator at the Endowment Building. Naomi was a member of the Auburn Avenue Baptist Church where she also sang in the choir. She enjoyed watching college and professional basketball and football. Naomi loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was very devoted, loving, and supportive of her family.
Naomi is survived by her husband, Martin L. Jackson; her daughters, Marcie L. (Carl) Vactor, Melanie K. (Richard Draher) Wilson, and Mona R. (Kevin) White, all of Urbana; her sons, William R. (Clara LeFever) Moore and Martin C. (Cynthia Alexander) Jackson; her 10 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine Mitchell of Bellefontaine; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Sterling Black; her brother, Raymond P. Saunders; and her brother-in-law, Milton Mitchell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Home going services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Jerusalem Second Baptist Church, 1036 South High Street, Urbana, Ohio with Pastor Michael Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Dale Cemetery, Urbana.
