Naomi (Powell) Locke, 83 of Mechanicsburg went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 9, 2012, where she will be reunited with her beloved son, Barry, who preceded her in death in August 2011. She had been in failing health for several years.
She was born April 7, 1928 the daughter of Eskel and Bertha Powell, and grew up in the “grocery” in Brighton, Ohio.
A loving, giving woman, she devoted her life to being a hard working farm wife to James ” Mack” Locke, her husband of 63 years, and a precious mother to Coleen, Barry, Cindy and Michael. She spent her life providing a loving home and keeping her family together with celebrations and family dinners, always making sure that she prepared a favorite dish for each family member. Naomi was a good servant of the Lord, she spent 50 years playing beautiful organ music at the Catawba United Methodist Church. She loved Jesus, her husband and family, babies and children, music, and pleasing people. A beautiful lady has gone to her reward with the Lord.
Naomi is survived by her husband; children, Coleen Locke of Springfield, Cindy Rucker and Michael Locke both of Mechanicsburg; daughter-in-law, Pam Locke; her sister, Dottie (Paul) Good; grandchildren, Matt (Becky) Locke, Christopher Locke, Jamie Rucker (Scott Sheerin) and Sean Locke; great grandchildren, Connor Clark and Joel Clark, Kylie Locke, Johnathan Smith, Nikole, Nathan, Justin and Cody Locke, Abigail Sheerin, as well as her loving caregivers who became family members, Sue Alfrey and Shuavon Gilbert.
She is preceded in death by her son, Barry M. Locke and her brother, Ralph Powell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON, Mechanicsburg with Pastor Richard Smyers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Vernon-Asbury Cemetery, Catawba.
