Ned Roger Davis, 80 of Urbana, passed away, Sunday, November 24, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 10, 1933 in Urbana and was a 1951 graduate of Urbana High School. He served his country in the United States Air force. Ned retired from Siemens; during retirement he worked for the City of Urbana in the Parks and Recreation. He was a member of the Springfield Union Club. He enjoyed watching all sports, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Neddra Armstrong of West Liberty, Jeff (Glenda) Davis of Springfield and Cliff (fiance, Mandy Gullett) Davis of Urbana; his grandchildren, Brad (Kara) & Ryan (Molly) Armstrong, Dillon, Dusty Lynn & Ryland Davis and Madison Gullett, his great grandson, Jetson Armstrong; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Junken) and Emmitt Davis, his wife, Delores Lucille (Jake) Davis, brother, Max Davis and sisters, Nancy Davis, Judy Nichols and Virginia Reisinger.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Chess officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the special care given to Ned by the Community Mercy Hospice Staff.

I am a friend of Morgan and Megan Nichols(king) and i knew Ned when i did work at The Urbana Park. Ned was real sweet and kind with me. I am shocked to hear that such a sweet man is gone. rest peacefully ned.
I worked with Ned at Siemens many years ago and have fond memories of him.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
There is great comfort in knowing Our Lord is holding Ned gently in his arms now.

He was a great guy, I enjoyed the many chats we had at the bank and at the ball fields. Hope to have another one someday Buddy.
