Norma Jean (Boyer) Larry, 91 of Cable passed away peacefully in Vancrest of Urbana Nursing Home. She was born February 23, 1927 in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ward and Winnie (McAdams) Boyer.

Norma was a 1945 graduate of Cable High School. She served as Post Master for Cable Post Office from December 1948 to July of 2011. Upon retirement after 62 years, she was the youngest post master to ever be installed at the age of 21 and the longest serving post master in the United States.

She was a member of the Citizens for Cable, the National Associates of Postmasters, the National League of Postmasters, and Cable United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, gardening and watching her family play sports.

She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Sharma J. (Dale) Thompson, granddaughter, Macie A. (Taylor) Cayot, niece, Debi Grimm, nephew, Gregg Boyer and their families; as well as many old and new friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grant Sherman Larry, her brother & sister-in-law, C. William (Elizabeth) Boyer and niece, Sherry Pyle.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Blosser officiating. Burial will follow in Jenkins Chapel Cemetery, Cable.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cable United Methodist Church, 5779 Fillmore St., Cable, Ohio 43009 or to the Activities department of Vancrest of Urbana, 2380 US Hwy 68, Urbana, Ohio 43078.

Norma was much loved by her Postmaster friends. We used to ride to meetings together.
