Norman F. Kennedy Sr. 68 of Urbana, passed away Thursday, July 03, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center Springfield. He was born February 7, 1940 in Mingo, Ohio the son of the late George Kennedy and Mabel (Neely) Linaweaver.
Norman was a 1958 graduate of Triad High School. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Friends Church. He was an avid sports fan; he followed football, basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed working in his yard & his garden, as well as travel to the Smokey Mountains. Norman enjoyed spending time with friends and family; every Friday morning he would meet the “The Breakfast Club” at one of the local restaurants. He also, enjoyed playing cards with his dear friends, Sam & Janie Sowers. Norman will be sadly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Luella J. (Cummins) Kennedy of Urbana, his children, Norman (Lori) Kennedy of Cable, Deborah (Randy) Smith of Urbana & Tammy (Sam) Roberts of Urbana; his grandchildren, Brad & Ashley Kennedy, Jennifer (Russell) Martin, Ryan Smith, William (Angie)Roberts, Chad Roberts and Mallory Roberts; great grandchildren, Gianni, Conner & Zaria; his brother, Lowell (Bernice) Kennedy of Mingo, numerous nieces & nephews; his mother-in-law, Fern Cummins of Urbana and his sister-in-law, Judy Moreno of Urbana.


Norman is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clyde Kennedy and his father-in-law, Audrey Cummins.


A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the Vernon Funeral Home Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008 in the Mt. Carmel Friends Church Cable. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Cable.
