He attended Triad High School. Phil worked at Honeywell for 36 years and was a very loyal employee. He was a man of few words but he always had a way of showing his love for all of us. Phil loved riding his Harley, camping alongside his brother Bruce and his wife, Diane. He loved spending time with family and friends and helping them any way he could. He loved sharing his home for the holidays. He loved his children and grandchildren the love he had for them had no bounds. It didnt matter if they caught a frog or graduated with a masters degree, he was always proud of them. He always used his grandparent bragging rights.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa J. VanHoose; his mother, Barbara Dean VanHoose; his daughter, Amber (Jeremy) Spence; his sons, Phillip (Abby) VanHoose II, Travis W. VanHoose and Brandon (Heather) Spence; his grandchildren, Alexis and Ayden VanHoose, Connor Moore, Kelis Hays, and Aubri and Keegan Spence, all of whom he loved so much; his brothers, Bruce (Diane) VanHoose and Chris (Venus) VanHoose; his sister, Deanna Kay (Chris) Hoey; his mother-in-law, Beverly Palmer; his brothers-in-law, Randy (Pam), Steve, and Doug Palmer and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul VanHoose; his grandparents, Glen and Marie Pelphrey and Milard and Emma VanHoose; his father-in-law, Dick Palmer; and his special friend, Ed Tussing “Uncle Eddy”.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Jack Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
