Pauline (Davis) Cordell, 85, of Springfield, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Springfield Masonic Home.
She was born November 1, 1926 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, the daughter of Pearl and Isabelle (Thompson) Davis.
Pauline attended the Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union and the Urbana Church of the Nazarene. She worked for many years as a cook for the Champaign County Nursing Home. She then served as a home health care provider in private homes, hospitals and nursing homes. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, taking pictures and writing stories for the local newspaper. Pauline was a Girl Scout leader for 18 years and a member of the Eastern Star Caroline Chapter #39.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (John) Kenfield of Glenrock, Wyoming, Mary Walling of Piqua, Ohio, Joanna (Christofer) Chapman of Urbana, Ohio, and Theresa (Gary) Knox, Urbana, Ohio; sons, David Cordell of Columbus, Rodney Cordell of Springfield, Philip Cordell of Columbus, and Paul Cordell of Columbus; brother, Pearl ”Buck” Davis of Mechanicsburg; and daughter-in-law, Marcia Cordell-Miles of Mechanicsburg; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Granville O. Cordell; son, Rodger Cordell; granddaughter, Erica Lynn Cordell; great grandson, Kamden Ketchell and Brandon Walling; sisters, Earsel Martin, Rhoda Cummings and Betty Louise Smith; and brothers Earl Davis and William James Davis.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Springfield Masonic Home in the Wooley Chapel. Eastern Star services will be provided by the Caroline Chapter #39 starting at 5 p.m. followed by the funeral services officiated by Rev. Richard Cartwright. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
