Philip L. Thompson, 81, of Urbana passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 in his home. He was born November 2, 1932, son of Herman and Cecil (Philippi) Thompson.
Philip was a graduate of West Liberty High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the St. Andrews Lodge #619 F & AM, the 32 Degree Valley of Dayton, American Legion #2012, and the Ohio Eastern Star-Caroline Chapter #39. Philip enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Reames) Thompson; daughter, Deborah Ann Schade of St. Paris; son Michael (Kimberly) Thompson of Colorado; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Herman (Diane) Thompson and Robert (Nancy) Thompson both of Urbana; sister, Roberta (Arnold) Brunotte of Urbana, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, Glenn, and Norman Thompson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m provided by St. Andrews Lodge #619 F. & A.M. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Cheryl Siegenthaler officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Pearce-Kerns Post #120.
