Raymond Stephen Whetstine, 69, of Urbana, passed away Monday, December 02, 2013 in The Ohio State Medical Center Columbus, Ohio.
He was born April 14, 1944 in Canton, Illinois the son of Raymond Eugene and Celesta (Johnson) Whetstine. Raymond was a 1963 graduate of Canton High School and he married his high school sweetheart, Eileen Hallam on November 1, 1963 in Canton, IL.
He retired from International Harvester-Navistar after 40 years of service and was a member of the International Harvester Union #402. Raymond was a member of the Heritage Fellowship Church, Springfield, OH and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Whetstine of Urbana, his daughter, Tina (David) Groutage of Cuba, IL, his son, Donald (Cindy) Whetstine of Urbana,; his granddaughters, Jenifer (Dan) Workman, Stephanie Cook and Kimberly (Zach) Ashley all of Canton, IL, Sara Groutage of Cuba, IL and Jessica (Jason) McDaniel of West Mansfield, OH; his grandson, Stephen Whetstine of Urbana, OH, great grandchildren, Johanna, Jacob, Jaina, Julie, Celesta, Drake and Ava, his brothers, Donald Whetstine and John Joe Whetstine both of Canton, IL; his sister, Miki Lea Whetstine of Canton, IL; as well as several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth Ryan and infant sister, Celesta Whetstine; his twin infant grandsons and an infant great grandson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana; where Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Kirk Heldreth officiating. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 in the Oak Hines funeral home, Canton, IL. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Canton, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Fellowship Church, 105 N. Tecumseh Rd, Springfield, Ohio 45504 or to the Donor’s Favorite Charity. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Whetstine,, I did not not until Thursday evening he died. Please accept my condolences and I am truly sorry.. I am going to miss seeing him..
