Richard A. Puglia, 80 of Urbana passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in Hearth & Home of Urbana.
He was born June 19, 1928 in Queens, NY the son of the late Alesandro Puglia & Lucy (Kelser) Hatch.
Richard was employed with the Champaign Bank from 1956 to 1993 earning the title of Vice President. His passion was playing his violin. He played for many musical groups including the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Richard was a member of the Kiwanis, Champaign County Shrine, Dayton Cycling Club & a volunteer Kindergarten Aid at Urbana North Elementary.
Richard is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosemary (Marsh) Puglia, his daughters, Rosemary (Rick) Wygal of Urbana, Elizabeth Bush & fiancé Tom Kushmaul of Urbana, Lucy (James) Yohey of Upper Arlington and Amy (Ron) Hunter of Indianapolis, IN, his sons, Richard (Rachel) Puglia of Columbus, OH & Robert Puglia of Urbana, 13 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren, brother in law, Don (Molly) Marsh of Columbus, OH, 1 niece and 4 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following his wishes his body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the following: PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 West US Highway 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078; Alzheimer’s Association, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Suite G100 Dayton, Ohio 45449; or Chamber Music in Yellow Springs, Box 448, Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387.
