Robert S. “Bob” Brunotte, 91 of Urbana, passed away, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in his residence.
He was born May 20, 1920 in Urbana, Ohio. Following High School, Bob planned to enlist in United States Navy. He took the physical, and was called back to Urbana where, he was the only draftsman employed at Grimes Manufacturing Company. Bob spent the next 46 years finishing the engineering drawings for each of the aircraft lights produced for the war effort and for those lights manufactured for decades to follow.
Bob was a member of the Urbana United Methodist Church and the Harmony Lodge #8 F.& A.M. where, he served as Past Master. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Art was the mainstay of his interests through the years, first with oil paintings, followed by a long period of pen and ink, and ending with many years of watercolors. During his recent years, his great grandchildren were his greatest fascination.
He is survived by his son, Dennis (Lynda) Brunotte of Naples, FL; his grandchildren, Amy (Eugene) Conrad of Lakeland, FL and Nicholas Brunotte of Columbus, OH, step-grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth) Cunningham of Cincinnati, OH and Anne (Ronald) Buckley of Dublin, OH, great grandchildren, Ella and Charlie Brunotte and Gunnar Conrad, step great grandchildren, Aaron and Eleanor Cunningham and Jacob, Adam and Lilly Buckley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Verna Bell (Imel) Brunotte, his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Ropp) Brunotte, his brother, Charles Brunotte and his sisters, Mildred Dorsey and F. Maxine Bussler.
Memorial Services to Celebrate Bob’s Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with the Rev. Timothy West officiating. Masonic services will be held at the start of the service and the family will receive friends following the services. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
