Robert M. Dorsey, 93, of Urbana passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana following a brief illness.


He was born February 10, 1918 in Urbana, OH the son of Victor and Margaret (Henry) Dorsey.


Robert was a 1936 graduate of Urbana High School and attended Urbana College. He worked at Urbana Tool & Die prior to serving his country in the United States Army. After returning from the service, Robert continued working as a tool & die maker until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his retirement bowling and golfing.


He is survived by his daughters, NaNette Blue of Urbana and Kendra (Steve) Heinlen of Dublin; 6 grandchildren, Shelly (Keith) Short, Jennifer Loffing, Heather (Todd) Follmer, Jason (Shannon) Heinlen, Adam (Christie) Heinlen and Travis (Vallerie) Heinlen; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren with 2 on the way; step-children, Barbara (Richard) Runkle, Virginia (Norman) Fell, Marilyn (Gerald) Clark, Karen (Phillip) Wagner, Roger (Julia) Blankenship, Melvin (Jeanne) Blankenship and Michael (Phyllis) Blankenship; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Robert is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of nearly 28 years, Betty (Woodruff) Dorsey; his second wife of over 32 years, Mildred Dorsey; sister, Katherine; brothers, William and Fred Dorsey.


A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Kingscreek Cemetery.
