Robert Edward Black, 90, of Cable, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born September 23, 1927 in Cable, the son of Clarence and Danah (Thompson) Black. Robert was branch manager of a trucking company and enjoyed his work so much he never wanted to retire. He was a 67 year member of the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A. M. and was an avid hunter who was always after the wiley morels. Robert was a fan of Ohio State Football, Cincinnati Reds baseball, and thoroughly enjoyed his VO Manhattans. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances (Gifford) Black; his daughter, Alice Black of Urbana, Ohio; his sons, Alan (Carol) Black of Colfax, Washington, Andy (Kathy) Black of Canton, Ohio, Howard (Marcie) Black of Holland, Ohio, and Phil (Candy) Black of Mogadore, Ohio; his 11 grandchildren, Alison, Kathleen, Carolyn, Jillian, Lawrence Robert, Jacqueline, John, Tabitha, Audrey, Tori, and Austin; his 6 great grandchildren; his sister, Virginia (Mearl) Crowder of North Lewisburg; and his 8 nieces and nephews including Robert & Mark Crowder.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents.

Masonic services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 4, 2018 in the FRESHWATER, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, North Lewisburg with honors provided by the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A.M. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Burial will be held in Jenkins Chapel Cemetery, Cable.
