Robert “Bob” F. Gossett, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born March 22, 1918 in Columbus, the son of Charles W. and Bertha E. (Griggs) Gossett.
Robert retired from John’s Manville Co. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII having participated in the Battle of the Bulge in the 6th Armored Division under General Patton and in the liberation of Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He was a past member of the Grace Bible Church, Springfield as well as the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Pitzer Gossett; four sons, Robert H. (Joan) of Columbus, Jerry (Joyce) of Irwin, Daniel (Terri) and Ronald (Angeline) both of Galloway; one daughter, Nancy (Bryan) Brodess of Hilliard ; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one sister, Patsy Jo (Robert) Danec of Canal Winchester.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Betty McCarty Gossett; and brother, Melvin Griggs.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 in the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow in Treacles Creek Cemetery.
