Robert T. ”Bob” Hewitt, 63 of Catawba, passed away, Friday, November 23, 2012 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 21, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. Bob graduated from Triad High School. He served his country for 10 years in the United States Navy. He was a first class petty officer and work as a bailiff for the Navy courts. Bob was a former employee of Dunham’s Meats.
He is survived by his wife, Gaylene (Locke) Hewitt, his daughters, Terri and Bobbi both of Georgia, his stepsons, Brandyn (Lori) of Woodstock and Kent (Patsy) of Catawba, several grandchildren, including, Alyssa, Brooke, Aubrey, Donald, Wesley and Luke; his mother-in-law, Lillian (Skinner) Locke of Catawba, his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Bonnie, Cheryl, Tom (Melinda) and Jeff.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Roberta and Harold Hewitt, and his brothers, Harry and Mike.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home Mechanicsburg. Graveside services will be held at the family’s convenience in the Dayton National Cemetery.
